BBC – Common wealth Games
This beautiful BBC ident, directed by Matt Rhodes and produced by Red Bee Media, captured the vibrant transformation of Delhi in the lead-up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Over the course of three days, with Highlight Films and our team handling line production, the film came to life in a way that was as logistically complex as it was visually stunning. One of the most memorable challenges was coordinating kites representing all 71 participating nations. We worked closely with local kite makers to craft these, and on the final day, rooftops across Old Delhi came alive with a spectacular fly — each shot choreographed with precision to create a breathtaking visual. The production also navigated tight turnarounds and tricky logistics: blocking traffic on Delhi’s wide roads for sweeping visual shots, managing crowd control in the bustling markets of Old Delhi, and creating a smooth workflow across high-density locations. Every element was carefully managed to balance authenticity with cinematic precision. “There was so much beautiful stuff that I wanted to shoot. It was like being in a giant, extravagant set,” said Matt Rhodes. And truly, it felt that way to produce it. It remains one of those rare shoots where every challenge felt worth it — and it feels just as good to look back and know we helped make it happen.
